In this story the journalist writes: "Jensen er nettopp kommet hjem fra Vestkysten i USA og Canada, hvor han gjennomførte en syvukers Griegturne, hovedsakelig myntet på amerikanere med skandinavisk bakgrunn." This is wrong. It should read: "Jensen er nettopp kommet hjem fra Vestkysten i USA og Canada, hvor han gjennomførte en syvukers Griegturne, hovedsakelig myntet på amerikanere og kanadianere med skandinavisk bakgrunn." In this tour there are several tour dates in Canada, where he will be playing to Canadians of Scandinavian background (like myself), yet in the story there is not reference to Canadians of Scandinavian background, just to the Americans of Scandinavian background. Canadians of Scandinavian decent are called - CANADIANS, not Americans as the journalist has written. What the journalist has written is like a Canadian journalist coming to Norway and writing Norwegians are Germans or Swedes. This story is another excellent example of how many Norwegian journalists don't make the extra effort with Canadians or Canada. For example, the artist is touring two separate countries - both the country of Canada and the USA. This fact is worth mentioning, but he makes reference to just the Americans of Scandinavian background. Why are the Canadians of Scandinavian background not worth mentioning? And why are the Canadians of Scandinavian background listed as Americans? Why is the story written to say: "Jensen er nettopp kommet hjem fra Vestkysten i USA og Canada, hvor han gjennomførte en syvukers Griegturne, hovedsakelig myntet på kanadianere med skandinavisk bakgrunn." The point here is Canadians are not Americans, don't come from the USA, the artist is touring Canada and the USA, and if Americans of Scandinavian background are worth mentioning, why are Canadians of Scandinavian background worth mention. In Canada there are over 360,000 Canadians that can claim their ancestry from Norway, so don't they deserved to recognised int his story for who they are - Canadians? Norwegian don't like being referred to as Swedish or German, so why should Canadians like being referred to as Americans when they are not? After e-mail the journalist the story was corrected to read: "Jensen er nettopp kommet hjem fra Vestkysten i USA og Canada, hvor han gjennomførte en syvukers Griegturne, hovedsakelig myntet på amerikanere og kanadiere med skandinavisk bakgrunn." Norwegian Media Watch has asked for no extra coverage or reference to Canadians in this story, just the same fair coverage.
