World Wildlife Federation (WWF-Norge) - 1 Story

1) WWF - NORGE (Author unknown) 20 April 2006

In this story the Norwegian office of the World Wildlife Federation the journalist writes: "...inkludert Grønland og Russland. Hun er selv bosatt i Iqaluit, i den inuittstyrtedelstaten Nunavut nordøst i Canada." Nunavut in Canada's arctic is a territory in Canada and not a state as is written in the WWF Norge website. Canada is composed of 10 provinces and three territories in Canada's north. Nunavut, the Yukon Territory, and the Northwest Territories are all territories in Canada. Why would a Norwegian journalist call Nunavut Territory a "state" (a term and political division not used in Canada) when it is a territory, and why would the journalist call it a state when we don't have states in Canada? The following quote is taken from the WWF Canada office website regarding the Canadian territory of Nunavut: "Canada has the longest coastline of any nation, and Nunavut has nearly two-thirds of Canada’s coastlines, but there are, as yet, no marine protected areas in the territory.” A reply from WWF Norway has never been received after sending several e-mails to their office regarding a correction to this error. Perhaps the WWF Norway office felt the WWF office in Canada must be wrong about Nunavut to never have received a reply or a correction to the WWF Norway story?
