1) IT-ansatte trenger stresshjelp (Helene Aarnes) 7 September 2007
http://www.ledernett.no/id/16482
In this story the original Norwegian journalist writes: "En ny amerikansk undersøkelse viser at it-bedrifter må investere mer i stresshjelp for sine ansatte. Men i Norge er situasjonen en annen, mener HMS-ekspert... En gruppe forskere ved Universitetet i Ontario har kommet frem til at it-selskaper i større." What Pål Dimmen has written is a mistake. The study is a Canadian study (not American) done at a Canadian university - the University of Western Ontario in the Province of Ontario, in Canada. It is Canadian not American as the journalist has written. This story has nothing to do with the USA, or any American university as the Norwegian journalist has written. The USA website this Canadian story was taken from does clearly indicate the story is from the country of Canada and states: "August 31, 2007 (Computerworld Canada) -- A Canadian graduate school study suggests companies should start investing in IT-specific employee assistance programs and offer more peer support for technology professionals who are struggling to manage their stress levels. The study, "Of Races to Run and Battles to be Won: Technical Skill Updating, Stress and Coping of IT Professionals," also recommended companies look for optimism as a key personality trait when recruiting for IT roles that demand intensive and constant technical skill updating. The results of the study, which was conducted by a group of researchers at the University of Western Ontario's Richard Ivey School of Business, will be published in a human resources management journal later this year." The journalist also writes: "Nicole Haggerty, sier til amerikanske Computerworld." She was speaking to "Computerworld Canada", not to the American ComputerWorld as written. http://www.itworldcanada.com/ The Norwegian journalist has for some reason changed the story to state this was an American university and American study, yet it is clear from the Computerworld USA story (picked up from Computerworld Canada) it is Canadian and from Canada. How does a Canadian study and Canadian story get changed in the Norwegian press to be American when it is clear that it is a Canadian study, from a Canadian university from a Canadian website?? Why does it state she was speaking to American Computerworld when she was speaking to Computerworld Canada?? Do Norwegians think that everything on this side of the Atlantic Ocean is the USA? There are three countries in North America - Mexico, Canada and the USA, and the only part that is American in the USA. What has been written in this story is like a Canadian journalist taking a Norwegian story and a Norwegian study and identifying everything in it as Swedish or German.
