In this story about the Canadian University of Alberta, the Norwegian journalist writes "delstaten Alberta." This is not correct. Alberta is a province in Canada, and was created by an act of the Canadian parliament in 1905. Canada does not have states; it is divided internally by 10 provinces and 3 territories. The Norwegian word for province is "provins". Canada has been using the system of provinces since 1663, when Canada became a Royal province of France. The University of Alberta is located in the provincial capital of Alberta - Edmonton in Canada. This site from the University of Bergen mentions several Canadian provinces as "states" and mentions other Canadian provinces as "provinces". An e-mail was sent to let them know of their mistakes, but a reply was never received.
